We had a girl’s day out in the jungle and the rice fields. We hand-picked our ingredients from the jungle and our garden and cooked them Khmu style enjoying nature.
The tradition and art of jar lifting is being passed to younger generations . This a demonstration performed by the Khmu Traditional Dance Group of Ban Lackpaed, Luang Prabang, Laos.
The jars are filled up with water and they are very heavy. However, this is not only pure strength but also a spiritual practice. The jar lifters whisper some secret words that enables them to connect with the spiritual world and lift the jars.
Our younger generations are continuing the Khmu music and dance tradition. This is our Khmu Music and Dance Group school. We perform for the New Year celebration at Ban Lackpaed and in other national and international venues throughout the year. Please, contact us if you would like to schedule a performance.
